How did Tamara J Allen
Yoga Therapy come to be?
A major life change of moving from Omaha, Nebraska, to Lee’s Summit, Missouri, gave me the chance to start fresh with my yoga therapy practice. However, I also brought with me on this move many beliefs about how my practice “should” look and how I “should” be doing things.
With my confidence a bit shaky, I began listening to others’ well-intentioned, and often sought out, advice about how to proceed. It all became “noise” very quickly and I began falling into old patterns of letting others define my path and feeling obligated to meet their expectations. The more I listened to the noise, the less I trusted myself to succeed doing it my way and the less joy I felt.
The “noise” and confusion became so loud that I felt disheartened enough to almost walk away from my passion because I didn’t know how to succeed doing it those other ways.
During a yoga therapy session with a mentor, she began asking very specific questions about activities related to my professional offerings and breaking things down into very small pieces to see how each piece felt in my body. Through this process, I was able to reconnect to my inner voice and get clear about what my path looked like going forward and what felt in alignment with my heart and soul. And I’m proud to say I’m ready to put my name on it!
My mission is to help everyone who works with me to develop self-awareness and self-examination skills to tune out the “noise”, tune in to their body, and discover their own path to healing and happiness.
